Simple question. I am installing a new build on a Hackintosh. Specs are HP Pavillion
running Tiger 10.4.11, Intel P4 3.0Ghz, 1Gram. Xcode is installed and updated 2.5
and X11 1.1.3. I have done a previous build and it failed to launch. The ~/src/macports/Gimp.app
was 1.35GB however after running skeleton the build Gimp.app was only 206MB
I searched the forums and did not see anything obvious except perhaps X11.

Is there a Tiger build of XQuartz? or do you just use the latest 2.2.1 for Leopard? Or, what version
of X11 is the lastest and where can I find it?

    Cheers,

I didn't follow everything you said

For Tiger, you can find X11 on the OS X install disk and then update it via software update. version 1.1.3 should work, what problems do you meet?

The problem was it failed to launch and I received a message saying it was "incomplete or corrupted" .
The Gimp.app in ~/src/macports/ was 1.35 GIG the Gimp.app in the skeleton/build was 206 MB.
I don't think it all got shared... I have deleted the build and started from scratch...just in case ;D
and will try the procedure again. I also opened Gimp.app/Contents/....and clicked on the gimp exec.
terminal said it could not find the bus. I will re-post when it finishes and update you all.

~/src/macports contains a build from source, therefore it is normal it gets huge.

As for the problems when you launch, try opening the app from a terminal to get a proper error message - I will need exact messages to help further

Okay, I rebuilt Gimp.app again and received the same error.
    See Attachment......

Also, when I run sh gimpguts.sh from the build folder directory,
it creates another skeleton folder in the same directory as the
    darwingimp folder.

I attached a pic of the contents of the two skeleton folders
skeleton(EXTRA) is the new folder that pops up in the same directory as
    darwingimp.

Unfortunately screenshots of your build directory does not help me diagnose the problem - what I need is the error message you get when you run the generated GIMP executable from the terminal

It's normal new directories appear, they are generated in the process of packaging GIMP

BTW, what is exactly 'hackintosh'? If this means a hacked version, you'll probably understand that I can't support irregular systems as they are bound to contain bugs...

I've never seen this before - are you sure you are on a valid computer? You still haven't told me what's a 'hackintosh'

anyway, from your message, it seems like it crashes. so you should get a crash report - paste its contents here.

if you don't get a crash report, run it through gdb. Use same command as you used to run it but with "gdb " in front of it. then type "run" + enter, then when it crashes type "bt" + enter

Yes, it is possible that a Hackintosh would have a few bugs, however
they are mainly hardware hacks. The Gimp for Tiger.dmg from the
Wilber-loves-Mac site works fine on it. I just want to be able to upgrade
it. I used the Tiger install disc for the Xcode and the X11 and Apple updates
to bring it up to a current status. I'll tell you that iDVD sure encodes alot
faster than my iMac G5 2.1Ghz w/2Gram. All Apps are in fine working order.
Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, MSOffice2008....all of them.

Hmm your crash seems to happen in low-level libraries...
    try this :
double-click X11 in your utilities to get a X terminal. From there, type

    Code:
    ~/src/macports/Gimp.app/Contents/Resources/bin/gimp-2.4

This will check your installation straight from macports, before our scripts.
If you get the same crash (and I believe you will, but better to test), you'll probably be left to get support from the macports folks, as this means the build did not went correctly

That opens Gimp....So I guess the build is alright.

Well to be all honest... I have absolutely no clue how this can happen. I've never seen that happen to anyone else.

I think I found the problem by opening the xcode script. My
Script Editor.app has a problem finding the JavaScriptCode.
Script Editor is called for and was not launching..behind the scenes.
Still working on the fix .....Not sure if I can use another Script Editor(Komono??) and
modify your script to link to that instead.....
