My old computer crashed. So now I have a new HP laptop with Windows 7. I lost 2 yrs of art when it crashed. This new computer now has gimp downloaded, however, none and I do mean none of the tutorials I have found have successfully been helpful in getting any much less all of my brushes re downloaded back......

I downloaded them....got the extensions changed to .gbr files but even when I make an effort to copy n paste into the brushes on Gimp......it simply does not appear ...........

911 HELPPPPPPPPPPP ..........I am so lost and so miss my old computer !

    Thanks in advance......Harlie

Are you adding the brushes to folders within the main brush folder? If so then under preferences you have to add those folders to folders Gimp scans for brushes.

hi , i don't speak good english , but i'll do my best
1: your old computer , crashed, means broken ?? dead ?? or just software faliature?? , you probably can fixit with xp pilitos , is a live cd version of win xp , you can recover your data, thats the most important thing , isn't it??? a can help you with that just send a pm

2: the downloaded brushes , to use them , you have to move them to the brushes folder of the program , and an other thing , i suggest you to use linux, is better , because gimp is native in linux not in windows

    thats all
    salu2 (or greetings)

Sorry to hear you lost so much of your art, that sucks big time. =\
I started uploading all my xcf files, brushes, and plug-ins to Media-Fire about 1 year ago.
So far i have not been sorry to do so.

You can`t beat a regular back up routine. All my files are backed up automatically every week to an external hard drive. And with Win7 it`s so much easier to do than with my old laptop which only had Vista Basic.
