Give the blue a texture, or sparkles or floral or basically something to give it pizazz.

Don't read if you want my fair criticism, some might consider it harsh, others might appreciate:
    Let's start at the top.
The logo seems to have a bit of an added blue gradient on the left, which looks a bit off. And the drop shadow is a bit too big and too harsh. Soften it up a little. ;)

Get rid of the Serif font on the navigation and align it with the titles of the posts (this also counts for the logo btw).
The thumbnails should also align with the post content. And have equal spacing on either sides to the text. I'll assure you this will look much neater. Alignment and spacing is key.

I think the middle grey on the sidebars "borders" looks a bit dull in comparison with the blue. Also the few pixels borders should be smaller, just 1px is enough. I noticed the bottom inner-corners aren't round. Never mix round and square corners like that. ;)

I believe the font you have used in general isn't used on many computers as a standard. I'd advise people to use standard font like Tahoma, Verdana etc.. (although these are not present on linux/mac systems).

In the content the text is barely legible. I'd give everything, including titles, some extra space. It looks a bit cluttered now.

For the footer, use a little font and smaller icons. The footer should be attracting my attention to it whilst I'm reading the content or quickly scanning the website.
The shadow also feels quite harsh, but that isn't too bad. Though the rest of the content looks flat in comparison with that. Try to make it a unity. :)

I hope this helps and wasn't too harsh. I'm trying to be sincere and only trying to give you fair comments.
    Good luck, mate!

Also Sky-Fyre below has some pretty awesome comments. ;D

Nice. This is your first? I feel so pathetic, lol, my early designs were CRAP.

anyway. it's pretty cool. Just got a few things I'd pick on. The footer gradient is not very smooth. try turning on adaptive supersampling (It's a checkbox)

The twitter/facebook/rss feed icons are oversized imo, usually they're smaller. They kind of stick out you see, and you want the visitor to focus on the content (text) of the site.

Contrary to what Maffe says, you really don't need all that much copyright text. Keeping it short and clear is all you need :)

The centre column is white.... whereas the rest of the design is dark. I'd keep it dark. It kind of jars the flow. The borders on the other boxes in the two side bars I think would probably look better thinner.

Also, if you're going to make this into a wordpress theme, you'd better touch up on your html and css ;) It took me a while to dig through the wordpress code to figure out how to modify it to fit my design in. And that was after I finished coding.

vt - looks like norwegian to me. Maffe is norwegian anyway, right?

and listen to Stan! ;) He's got a better eye at designing than me.
