I am using gimp 4.6 on a Mac powerbook G4. And I am finding it impossible to print on 4x6 format paper. Am using an Epson R220 printer. Initially the paper feeds in fine, then it rolls it thru almost to the end of the sheet and begins printing. I have tried reloading everything anew at this point. Anyone have any wisdom to share about this? Thanks, Ian

Which print plug-in are you using? (gutenprint or regular file>print?)

I do not have much experience about this. I think printing is weak in the mac version of GTK (or maybe in GIMP at all, not sure). For now, the only workaround i know is to export the image and print in another software. We can hope the native version will have this work better ( it may be possible that some other people have ideas, but unfortunately the mac gimp community is incredibly small ATM :( )

Hmm, I think it's a bit global related. I remember reading Sven's blog (it's down right now :( ) about gutenprint problem. Actually I do remember reading a similar problem but I don't know where =/ (probably the mailing list)

    Hi David & Auria,

I'm using the regular file print, not the gutenprint. It's a strange problem because it was working fine until just recently. The larger prints come out fine.

Although, the centering has never worked properly for either small or large printing. I will try the gutenprint to see if this makes any difference. In the past, I have tried it with no better results. Will let you. Thanks.

From bad to worse. Gutenprint does not even communicate with the printer.
I can print out on A4 paper with no centering. On the small 4x6 paper however, the printer carriage travels a few times back and forth and then goes to almost the end of the paper to start printing.

David, please clarify for me. What does your initial message mean?

    Thanks, Ian

It means I lost track of the issue, sadly. Some months ago I read a similar error, the sad thing is that I don't remember where.

I'll try to dig around to see if I find it again.

From what I heard GIMP is horrible at printing too.
