I can't decide what color to paint my bedroom. I want to see how my bedroom would look painted in various colors/shades.
I took a picture of my bedroom. The walls are now a light color. When I use the fill bucket it fills in the walls with my new color but it also fills in my bed ruffle and base boards as they are a light color also.
How can I use Gimp to see what my bedroom would look like painted in various colors/shades without painting the bed ruffle and base boards?
    I LOVE this site!
Thank you for any help you can give me or point me to.

Make a new layer, will it with the color, use perspective to match the wall, add a layer mask and mask out everything that's not the wall. :)

First of all he means Fill not Will!

then here is my methode: make a new layer, take the brush tool and brush all the walls you want to in black. Erase wherever you don't want paint. Now change the layer mode to "colour" or "Overlay"(whatever looks more realistic) You might have to change the opacity. Then go to colours>colorize and change it to the first colour you would consider painting it in. once you have it press ok. Duplicate the layer. Go to Colours>Colour Balance to chose the next colour you considere. Repea duplicating/balancing colours until you have all the colours you would like, !!!REMEBER TO MAKE a layer invisible after duplicating it. THEN balance the colours. Also make sure the layer mode and opacity is the same on all duplicates! I hope it helped! any Questions, ASK! ;)

Never got the hang of layer masks.
You could just select the wall with the free select or paths tool, and fill it with whatever color.
