It's not bad. Just not sure what to make of it.

Yeah dude this is bad, I personally do like MyPaint as it's great for painting, but I'm terrible at it. Once I get the hang of painting. I'll definitely start using it. I also love SumoPaint. It's truly the best free alternative to PS, PSP, and many more. It's mainly for painters, but also great for photo manipulations too, but don't think you can animate in it.

I don't have anything positive to say about it, but you're getting back into painting, so I'd like to see your progress in works like first creation, second, and so on, and see the improvements you'll make.

I wish I could say something positive on this, but I can't sorry.

This is actually good for a by-hand painting, it would look better with some extra filters (unless you consider that cheating)

my suggestion would be load the image in gimp, duplicate the water layer, do a bit of motion blur in the water direction and maybe a tiny bit of gaussian blur on the duplicated layer, then set the opacity of the clone layer to something low like 15% over your base 100% image. Change the blend mode of the clone layer to overlay or whatever looks best.

i like johnny's idea, just add some seeds, and you could start a series of abstract paintings showing the destruction of different fruits :)
