    Hi,

    this problem is currently discussed in

    http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php? ... _id=761056

    There you can find a quick (and dirty) fix to use english localization.

    Can you do me a favour? For better testing on my machine I need to know some environment variables from your system. Please open Terminal.app an type there

    Code:
    locale
    and hit return. You'll get some lines starting with "LANG=.....". Please post the output to the thread on sourceforge.

    And, just to get sure, can you please post the output (if any) of these commands too?

    Code:
    echo $LANG
    echo $LC_ALL
    echo $LC_MESSAGES

    I'd really appreciate if you would post these ouputs to this thread on sourceforge
    http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php? ... _id=761056
    so that the information isn't too much cluttered.

    Thanks!

    The locale is like this
    Code:
    $ locale
    LANG="zh_CN.UTF-8"
    LC_COLLATE="zh_CN.UTF-8"
    LC_CTYPE="zh_CN.UTF-8"
    LC_MESSAGES="zh_CN.UTF-8"
    LC_MONETARY="zh_CN.UTF-8"
    LC_NUMERIC="zh_CN.UTF-8"
    LC_TIME="zh_CN.UTF-8"
    LC_ALL=

    Thanks for these environment variables.

    I tried these and could reproduce the bug. Since on Soureforge it was mentioned that 2.4.7 should work, I tried this release. But no luck. 2.4.7 won't work too. :question:

    Did 2.4.7 work on your system?

    Can your try it once more?
    http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... _id=188008

    And just to get sure, that only the 2.4.7 libs are used, please remove the link "/tmp/skl/Gimp.app" first by typing in Terminal.app

    Code:
    rm /tmp/skl/Gimp.app

    It's fixed now! ;D

    In the next release of GIMP on OS X (which will be 2.6.4) this bug will be fixed.

    There was a problem with one of the libraries (cairo) which is responsible for the font rendering. Now if your environment is set up correctly, chinese (and any other asian) localization should work as expected and the menu entries show up the correct fonts.

    http://gimponosx.sourceforge.net/chinese.png

    Curretnly it's tested only on Leopard but it should work as well on Tiger systems. I'll do some test on Tiger in the next few days.

    This problem also occurs in Dia compiled via macport, could you tell me the detailed process to resolved the problem for the dia+macport?

    Thanks!
