    yeah sure, just select the blue parts carefully (probably with the path tool) and then desaturate it and adjust the brightness/contrast or levels :)

    actually, i just did it myself from the blue render, came out with something similar....

    just take the fuzzy select tool, put it to about 100 threshold, select the blue part (one click should select all of the important blue parts), then desaturate it, then select the shiny parts that are left (which should still have alittle blue) and desaturate those, and finally darken the whole render with brightness/contrast.

    Oh, and i also did this just for the heck of it ;D

    Another way you could do it is with the brush tool, although you would have to be a bit more careful. Create a new layer, and choose a dark brush and paint black over all the areas you want to turn black. After that, change the layer mode to color burn, or overlay, or something of the sort. Just play around with the layer settings until you get something darker. Duplicate the layer if possible. ^-^
