The goal of this tutorial is to create this:

    Resources: Kirby Render

    1) Open up a new image, 350x125

    2) Select the "blend" tool. Change the 'mode' to 'difference'. Make sure your foreground color is black and your background color is white. Now with the blend tool start making several different gradients by clicking and dragging.

    3) Go to Filters>Edge-Detect>Edge with the following settings:

    4) Create a new layer and move it under the first layer. Select the "blend" tool. Change the foreground and background colors to something that is close to the render. Make sure the 'mode' is set to 'normal'. From left to right, create the gradient. Finally change the layer mode of the top layer to 'overlay'.

    5) Go to Image>Flatten Image. If you want to, modify the color of the image by going to Colors>Color Balance. I changed mine a lot.

    6) Add any additional lighting you want to the background by first creating a new layer and then selecting the "blend" tool and choosing white as the foreground color. Change the 'Gradient' to 'FG to Transparent'. Make the 'shape' 'radial'. Click and drag where you want extra lighting. Finally change that layer mode to 'Soft Light'.

    7) Paste in your render finally as a new layer.

    8) Now to add some effects. Select the "Ellipse Select" tool. Change the mode to "add to current selection". Create a new layer. Select several different regions in the picture where you would like bubbles to go. Make sure your foreground is still white and go to Edit>Fill with FG Color. Then, with the circles still selected, go to Select>Shrink and shrink by 1 pixel. Then press ctrl-x to delete the inside part of the circles.

    9) Add some extra lighting behind your render by selecting the "blend" tool. Make sure the foreground color is still white and that the gradient is still FG to Transparent. Create a new layer and make sure it is below the render layer. Create a gradient right behind the render. Change the layer mode to 'soft light'

    10) Select a small soft brush and with white as your FG color, make a few dots around the signature .

    11) Add some text. For a cool effect, use the paths tool to make a 90 degree angle and stroke it with a white brush. Duplicate the layer with the path and offset it slightly from the first paths layer. Look at the final image at the top to understand positioning.

    12) Add a simple border and... Finished.

Great tutorial! I didn't imagine the background was anything more than a brush, pattern, or other resource. How to make the background is, alone, a good tip. Thanks for sharing =)
