The actual stable windows version by the devs is available now too. Thanks Arzo! <a class="postlink" href="http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-win/files/GIMP%20%2B%20GTK%2B%20%28stable%20release%29/GIMP%202.8.0/gimp-2.8.0-setup.exe/download" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-wi ... e/download</a>
Arzo are you using 32 bit or 64? I use 32 bit and GMIC works perfectly for me as well as all my Adobe plugins and MathMap. I even have themes working in it.
I just tried installing 2.8 on my Win7 64bit laptop and not only did the installer remove my previous version of Gimp - it failed to install 2.8! So I am now without any Gimp. Never used it much anyway so this has just given me a good excuse to get rid of it. Give me Paint.Net every time.
Baum! Dude! STFU! ITS MROHSEE!!!! He joined some time before me, but i still got 6k posts more than him...
I just popped back to see if there might be any solutions to this problem or if anyone else had had the same problem. I might even have been tempted back . But not after this reaction. Just because I didn`t post much didn`t mean I was not visiting the forum regularly to keep up with all the news about Gimp. In fact I was looking forward to trying out 2.8 , with all the new features hopefully giving me a good reason to start using the program more . A more positive reaction to my problem might have made all the difference. But this is far from positive. SO STFU TOO MAFFE!
@Rod: Windows XP 32 bit Some error messages, then a prompt window telling me GMIC couldn't start. I don't think I'll have to fix it any time soon though.
Arzo try re installing GMIC into the UserFolder/.gimp-2.8/plug-ins folder. It has been updated to 1.5.1.3 anyways.
Yeah i know, the reason i got so many posts is because i constantly checked in here and had nothing else to do. But i respect the people of "my age" and older with the title of "ancient"
I have the utmost respect for anyone using the forum, not just `ancients' (off which I am one myself unfortunately - time waits for no man as they say!). I was just a bit disappointed that all I got was replies going on about how few posts I had made rather than any help to get 2.8 working. As it happens a friend suggested installing Gimp Portable 2.8 , which I did. It has installed perfectly and Gimp is now back on the laptop and I am looking forward to trying out the new features.
