I have installed Gimp 2.6.5OSX and the help files 2.4.1 and still get error messages. Is there a fix or workaround s clearly this does not work on OSX Leopard??

    error message:

"Could not open 'http://docs.gimp.org/2.6/en/gimp-help.xml' for reading: Operation not supported
Perhaps you are missing GIO backends and need to install GVFS?"

    Thanks.

You have to tell GIMP that it should use your locally installed help files. Go to the meun

Edit -> Preferences -> Help system and choose "User manual: use a locally installed copy"

    -skl

    Hi:
Did that and then every time I click on help I get this prompt:
“index.html” is a web application alias which was downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?

I say OK and it leads me to the web site:
    file://localhost/tmp/skl/Gimp.app/Conte ... index.html

I assume this is the corect opperation but how can I get rid of the annoying prompt?

hhmm, this is a Mac OS X feature.
(and I currently don't know exactyl how to disable this. But IMO this is a usefull feature against malware and all this stuff ...)

Yes you are probably right. Perhaps a minor price to pay for an otherwise great program.

    Thank you
